Mario Forever: Advanced Mario Bros.
Mario Forever: Advanced Mario Bros. is a fan game developed by AppliconReal with Cloud Engine 2.2 which takes place four years after the events of Mario Forever. It aims to feel close to the original game while providing new challenges along with a challenging final boss fight. A few people may recognize it from its Mario Worker Remake prototype.
Developing & Level Designing: AppliconReal
Plot: Four years after Mario's victory against Bowser, Toadstool is yet again invaded by Bowser. Princess Peach has been kidnapped, and the entirety of Toadstool is bombarded with chaos and disaster. However, without a second thought, Mario volunteers to defeat Bowser in battle to save Toadstool from the dark age once again. His brother, Luigi, too; couldn't just sit back and watch. And so, he decides to make his own ways in defeating Bowser, agreeing to meet Mario some time later so that they can pursue their heroic goals together.

Features
- Continue System: Players have the option to choose between playing with or without continues. This is togglable in the settings and is on by default.
- Remixed Soundtracks: Some level soundtracks have their separate covers/remixes or an alternative. You can choose to listen to them or toggle it off in the settings to listen to the original songs. In the future, official music packs may also be provided.
- Freestyle: You can select any level you'd like to play, even if you haven't completed Story Mode. Stuck in a level for too long? You have the option to skip that level. "Single Level Mode" allows you to play only a specific level without having to go through the rest of the world.
- Buffed Powerups: Beetroots are far more convenient here in comparison to the original game. You can shoot up to four beetroots (compared to the usual two), and they can kill some indestructible enemies. Boomerangs are present, and you can shoot up to four of them as well. They can kill nearly all indestructible enemies.
Feedbacks
Contact me to report any bug encountered while playing the game. Suggestions as well as criticism regarding certain unfair elements are welcome, but any complaint concerning the sheer difficulty of the game will be ignored.

Changelog
v1.2 (Latest)
Released on May 14, 2026.
Changes
- Reduced the difficulty of World 5-A (as if it's not easy enough already ¯\_(ツ)_/¯).
- Added cutscenes before and after the series' final Bowser battle.
- Added more cloud platforms to the cloud sections in AMB 6's boss fight.
- Tweaked the mechanics of the final boss fight. All hazards (including insta-kill projectiles) only kill you after your "Green Lui Counter" has run out, whose initial value is 2. Since this would make the boss fight too much easier, Bowser has also been made far more aggressive with firing Poison Flames, but Hammer Attacks are a lot easier to avoid.
- Added more people to the ending credits.
- Hints are now given to the correct route in AMB 5's castle level (this is just to not frustrate speedrunners, as the correct corridor is completely randomized).
- Further reduced the difficulty of certain parts of AMB 2's finale.
- Made an invisible 1-UP block in AMB 2's finale obvious. To counter this, Bowser's movement has returned to its speed in the game's Demo version.
- Better sound adjustment to AMB 3's boss fight.
- Boomerangs can now eliminate Roto Discs and Stone Spinys.
- Regular Lakitu can no longer regenerate after collision with a boomerang, just like its two other variants.
- Minor graphical changes to 5-A and 6-1.
- Improved the quality of visual signs.
- Added the [top] secret opportunity for a 111-UP to a certain level in World 5.
- Unwarned falling platforms in World 4-2 have been made easier to tell with the help of coins.
- Made a route in World 5-2 a bit more obvious.
- Further intentional graphical inconsistencies towards the end of AMB 4's penultimate.
- Slightly reduced the number of Spiky Cheep Cheeps towards the end of World 1-3.
- Replaced the coin block near the checkpoint in World 2-2 with a Powerup block.
- Reduced the spawn rate of Cheep Cheeps in 6-2 and 6-A.
- Reduced the number of Blue and Purple Paratroopas towards the end of 3-2.
Patches
- Fixed a bug where the character does not go pass the edge of the frame in 6-A after level completion.
- Fixed minor graphical bugs in the maps of AMB 1 & 5.
- The starry sky BG now moves in 2-3 like it does in 2-1.
- Fixed a bug where you could not proceed to some levels using the level selector.
- Fixed a bug with smooth scrolling where the boss fight is triggered earlier than it should be in AMB 4's finale.
- Fixed a visual eyesore with 5-3 concerning the transition from the Overworld to Underground section when smooth scrolling is enabled.
- Bowser's health bar now disappears upon his defeat in World 5 as it does with the other worlds.
- Fixed an inconsistency in 6-4 — Consuming a Fire Flower should immediately power you up to Fire Mario/Luigi even if you're Small Mario/Luigi, which previously did not apply to this level.
- Fixed an issue where the Lives Counter HUD bugs out beyond 100 lives only in certain levels/sections.
- Fixed a bug where the defeated shells of Orange Koopa Paratroopas may appear green instead of orange in most of the levels they appear.
- Fixed a bug where the frame rate changes to 60 FPS after completion of 6-3 given that the player has died in that level at least once, even if the frame rate is set to 50 FPS. (Note: The occurence of this in the final level's second section is intentional)
- The "Your Frame Rate has temporarily been changed!" warning no longer appears in 6-3 if your frame rate is already set to 50 FPS.
v1.0.1
Released on March 29, 2026.
DownloadPatches
- Fixed a bug where proceeding to World 6 in Story Mode always lands you directly to the last level.
v1.0
*Released on March 28, 2026.
DownloadChanges
- Redesigned the logo.
- Changed the Main Menu music.
- Given that continues are on, your progress is now saved level-wise instead of world-wise.
- Changed the font for HUDs to Junebug.
- Level selection is now possible in Freestyle Mode. For convenience, you should be able to access it even before completing Story Mode.
- Changed the number of continues (4 → ∞).
- Changed the soundtrack for AMB 4's world map since it is already used in one of the world's levels.
- Visual improvements to World 2-2, 3-2, and 4-1.
- Visual improvement to the introduction.
- Clouds now emit a faint glow if effects are turned on.
- Better sound adjustment to AMB 1's map music and World 3's finale.
- Improved the quality of world maps.
- Level timers are now time-based instead of frame-based.
- Added: Levels 16 (4-2) to 30 (6-6 / 6-A).
- Added: New remixes/alternative soundtracks have been added to the existing levels.
- Added: An extra option in the settings which allows you to customize the level HUD. You can choose between having it show the level titles (e.g.
Starlit Platforms) or the level formatting (e.g.4-1). - Added: A parallax effect for underground, underwater, and fortress levels. Due to one of the many limitations of CTF 2.5+, this feature is not yet togglable. Workarounds may however be done in the future.
- Added: Patterning coins in some levels which indicate that there is an invisible power-up block in that spot.
- Added: New hidden/invisible one-up blocks in some levels.
- Added: A functionality which allows you to scroll faster through maps by holding the
Shiftkey. - Added: A new method to trigger the secret 1-UP trick in the Save Game Room.
- Removed: A falling block in the finale of the first game because it was too difficult to dodge.
Patches
- Removed an invisible barrier which stops Luigi from entering a specific pipe in 4-1. This invisible "barrier" was as a result of a now-scrapped mechanic.
- Green Bullet Bill Launchers cannot shoot to the right. This has been fixed by correcting the animation's hot spots, which was what forced us to disable a few lines of events.
- Fixed a bug where overlapping the platform towards the end of 1-2 causes it to fall even if you haven't landed on it.
- Fixed a bug where smooth scrolling occasionally bugs out the bossfight in AMB 3.
- Fixed a bug where falling Koopa Shells are orange in levels where Orange Paratroopas are present, even if the base Koopa Troopa isn't orange.
- Fixed a rare bug where the camera may slightly shake upon going left during a boss fight.
v0.8 Demo
Released on December 26, 2025.

Version 1.2 has been released!
This version introduces many changes to the game to ensure that it remains fair and enjoyable. Some parts have been made easier, while some have been made harder. Many of your suggestions have also been implemented.
The mechanics of the final boss fight have been changed, and Bowser has now gained the courage to speak to Mario both before and after the battle, it seems... (in other words, two new cutscenes have been added)
To see all that's new, read the changelog!
Note: This isn't a major update. Therefore, no new levels or customizations have been added.
v1.1has been skipped to prevent confusion withv1.0.1. -

VERY MINOR changes to v1.2
In the previous package of the game, I accidentally left some redundancies in the save file of the game, forcing you immediately to the third level (instead of the first) given that you use the first save slot. I apologize for this oversight, and it has been fixed. Everything else remains unchanged.
Since the issue fully lies within the existing save file and has nothing to do with the programming of the game, the version has not been bumped up and the download link remains the same.
