This board is made for sharing modifications (mods) for Mario Forever: Community Edition.
To learn how to make modifications, see https://wiki.godotmodding.com/.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to install a mod?
In the game's folder, create a new folder named
mods
(or navigate to it if already exists) and put a downloaded ZIP archive inside. The mod will be loaded on the next launch of MF:CE. Make sure the mod is compatible with your game's version.

What can mods do?
Mods allow to modify some of the game's contents or its functionality to distribute them easily.

Isn't Decompilation prohibited?
Yes, but for games that provide mod support (MF:CE), it can be used to create mods. Distributing decompiled assets is still not allowed.
For other fangames, decompilation is still strictly prohibited unless stated otherwise by the real author.

I could not figure out how to structure my mod properly. Can I have an example?
Here is an example mod that adds a looped animation to the Minix area of Save Room and replaces an existing leaf graphic from Max quality with a different color: https://rnx.su/index.php/s/MFCE_ModExample

Rules

Follow these rules before publishing your mod:

Distribution of decompiled game assets is NOT allowed.

Mario Minix should NOT be modified. Removing access to it is allowed.
Note: If your mod happens to grant advantages in Mario Minix gameplay, make sure to block off the Minix pipe in save room and move away the pipe warp object so it cannot be reached.
If the mod is purely graphical or only modifies audio and nothing else, this rule does not apply.

Your mod should NOT make any online requests to external websites or web servers, and should not modify existing vanilla online requests. If your mod needs to rely on that, let me know.

Your mod should NOT break Mario Forever Space rules.

Threads that do not follow rules will be deleted!

Mod Thread Guidelines

Here are some recommendations on how to properly organise your OP:

Start with the title of your modification and main credits (developer, graphics, ideas).

Include couple of pictures to show off your work.

Explain what your mod does, what kind of content it modifies/removes/adds.

Tell which version(s) of the game your mod is compatible with. Don't just say "latest" - you should state the version explicitly.

If you want to include changelogs, it's preferable if you keep them outside your OP and include as either thread replies and/or something like github gist (with all appropriately linked in your OP).

Your download link in the OP should always go to the latest version of your work.
